Well, the DB call centre has only two people on at this time of night
(2am in the morning German time) and one of them is on break.  The
operator asked me to phone back in an hour but I will try tomorrow
morning.

I saw those in the timetable but you'll see that the arrival time in
London (20:03) is three hours later than my plan (17:03), almost
entirely because of the late start from Munich (10:50, vs. 07:27).

I would prefer to take the earlier trains.

BTW were you relying on having a BahnCard for that price at all?
(I was just wondering whether it's worth getting one before going on a
spending spree)

Well, the convenience of travelling in a pack and getting home earlier
may well be worth the extra by that time in the journey, so I'd be
interested in knowing the price.

This is now done.  The total price was Eur210.50 including booking
fee, so Eur70.16 each.  Joachim, it's probably easiest if you just
give me cash (euros or pounds) at Debconf.  

Phil, converting that with the rate from xe.com gives L62.21.  
Cash is fine, or you send it by bank transfer to 07-01-16 33660736.

It's going to be considerably more expensive.  I don't have my
complete notes to hand here but I think probably on the order of
Eur150.  Also whether you want to do this may depend on whether you're
getting a special saver ticket from London on the way out, as Eurostar
singles are disproportionately expensive.

I'll do my booking tonight and let you know how much it was and then
you can decide.

I have just booked myself the following connection:

  Munich hbf			0650		wg.28 pl.61
  Frankfurt hbf		1004	1016		wg.38 pl.61
  Brussels midi		1335	1429		wg.11 pl.25
  London St Pancras	1526

I got a 1st class saver ticket for Eur122.50 including reservation
fee.  Reserved seating on the ICE is reasonably relaxed, but if you
want to join me on the Eurostar with this ticket we may have to phone
up to get the seating changed.

I can do a German address probably, and am going to Germany on Tuesday
afternoon anyway, so will see if there's any saving to be made (probably
while booking in person at a station).

stations, as would be the case if going via Paris.

OK -- that's really helpful, thanks.

I will attempt to get on the same trains.  It also points at the
possibility of a decent price being available for my outbound leg (which
I've not yet booked either).
