Just over halfway between Le Mans and San Sebastian on the A10 you
pass junction 37 which is less than 8 miles from my place. Please make
the tiny detour for tea/food/rest among the vineyards and sunflower
fields.
Le Mans - St Dizant: 3 hours 40 mins
St Dizant - San Sebastian: 3 hours (unless it's rush-hour on the
Bordeaux ring, in which case...)

Overnight space (and even some beds) available chez sfr (and free,
which San Sebastian is far from).
