Hi All
Sorry to both, and yes I know that this isn't really the correct forum
to ask this type of question, but it is such a dummy one that I didn't
want to both and sign up to the real mail list just because I'm being
thick. :-)
I'm building some debian meta packages to I can guarantee what get
installed and more importantly configured on a number of production
servers. My problem is that my postinst script is not being placed
in <package-name>/DEBIAN.
I've turned verbose mode on but all dh_installdeb reports is:
dh_installdeb
install -o 0 -g 0 -d debian/<package>/DEBIAN
It isn't logging anything about using the postinst.ex file that is
I have written to do a little work post installation.
Can some kind person please point me to the document that show how
to use postinst.ex files? For once Google failed me because I kept
getting references to "Debian New Maintainers' Guide" and all that
says is:
"postinst.ex, preinst.ex, postrm.ex, prerm,ex
"These files are called maintainer scripts. They are scripts which
are put in the control area of the package and run by dpkg when your
package is installed, upgraded or removed.
"For not, you should try to avoid any manual editing of maintainer
scripts if you possible can because they tend to be complex..."
Ta
Steve
