Yeah, input would still be appreciated. I started by creating a
programming
flow chart, and started implementing in shell, but there still were some

open questions. First of all, how I would reliably determine I was
running under 
sysvinit. Second, which command line flags to implement etc.

I can share my current status later, and hope this mail is not held
again.
