Ah *HAH*!

The file open dialogue in Firefox with xdg-desktop-portal-kde *does*
start in / on sysvinit/bullseye. By contrast, the Qt5 one (e.g. from
musescore3) starts in, I think, the last used directory (I’d prefer
~ but can live with that, as I configured it to have the directories
for my sheet music on that lefthand panel).

Later file open/save dialogue boxen in xdg-desktop-portal-kde use
the one from previous times, but the “first” one after “startx” is
always in “/”.
