Hard dependencies on systemd :(

Hi all,

today I wanted to set up a VM with sway to try out a system-free debian. Switching the init to openrc wasn't a problem. But when I installed sway, openrc got removed. This left me wondering since sway Build-depends: on either libsytemd-dev or libelignd-dev. I take it that buildd defaults to systemd so the elogind variant never gets built. This made me kinda sad; it's almost impossible to escape systemd.
Any thoughts on this? Do I have to use sbuild to build a systemd-free package locally?

Cheers
