pm-utils

Hi. pm-utils (which does power management stuff, and which I am
running on my laptop) was orphaned in Debian.

AFAICT from reading #930869 and #852167 it appears that we (people who
want to run sysvinit, or other non-systemd init systems) are going to
want to retain it for the foreseeable future.

I therefore decided to adopt it. My upload to do so is in the queue,
and will close #852167 (the O: bug).

I will be closing #930869 (the unparticularised RC bug from the old
maintainer) as soon as all the automatic systems show the update to
the package's maintainership. I will give my reasons in that bug
closure message, but something like the text below.

Would the Debian Ecosystem Init Diversity Team like to join me on this
package ? I would be happy to set the mailing list as Maintainer and
put myself (and perhaps other contributors) as Uploader.

Regards,
Ian.

I have read this bug report. I just adopted this package because it
appears that we (people who want to run sysvinit, or other non-systemd
init systems) are going to want to retain it for the foreseeable
future.

In my opinion as the new maintainer, #930869 does not seem to clearly
describe any bug, let alone a release critical one.

There is supposition that some "old quirks" code may be harmful. That
may be the case, but in my experience with a fairly modern laptop, it
works just fine. Maybe it works badly on some other modern systems
but that is, as I say, just supposition. Even if the package does
have some bugs that doesn't seem like it would make the package
RC-buggy.
