# 1. but make sure systemd is not purged
apt-get --purge install sysvinit-core systemd-sysv-

# 2. select sysvinit at GRUB menu
reboot

apt-get purge systemd
# 3b. … or switch to elogind
apt-get --purge install libpam-elogind systemd-

# 4. make sure systemd is never installed again, for example
