I am wondering if you managed to have a look at polkit wrt integrating it with elogind?

I know you didn't like my approach, or were worried the polkit maintainers
wouldn't

As a side note, I have also managed to make it work using a
LD_PRELOAD=libelogind.so.0 wrapper around polkitd.  That feels a very hacky
solution though. It also requires a wrapper around the other binaries (pkcheck
etc.)
